New Year Fashion Resolutions

Happy new year!

Do you make new year resolutions? I do. Mine are about making my life more fun and enjoyable, as well as self improvement. I plan to continue meditating, but have also got some fun easy wins on my list such as watching a Korean film and getting a massage. The full list is at the bottom of this post if you want to read it.

My fashion intentions for 2022:

  1. Have an occasion to wear this dress

This is an Uterque dress I bought in Madrid 3 or 4 years ago. It has not been worn recently. Because Covid.

My 2021 involved a lot of wearing of jogging bottoms. In fact the cost per wear of my H&M Conscious Collection jogging bottoms must be about 2p by now. So depressing. I say, no more! 2022 must involve some parties, nights out and lovely dresses.

2. Repair clothes

I’ve written before about the importance of repairing clothes. The production of new clothes = lots of carbon emissions and pollution, so I do want to repair what I own. I’ve got my bobble shaver ready to sort out some jumpers (below) and will take jeans whose zip needs replacing to a local repair place this week.

3. Upgrade

I feel ready for some beautiful quality clothes. I’ve got lots of things I’ve had for around 3 years now and am feeling the need for a fresh start as we (hopefully) exit the pandemic. Maybe I’m imagining it, but it seems as though the quality of brands like Zara – which I’d now only buy secondhand anyway – has reduced to the point were the fabric looks bad within just a few months of wear. I fancy getting some really elevated brands like Sézane (preowned!) that I know will last and look good for years.

Thanks for reading

  1. I have a book for you then! The Offing by Benjamin Myers. The main character goes from Durham to Robin Hood Bay between Whitby and Scarborough. I loved this book. It was joyful.
